Oh Facebook...

Although I enjoy the fun of pictures and knowing what a number of people are doing at all times, this is why I don't fit in on Facebook....

Overly Fertile Mom: More potty news...Amy went #2 in the pot!!! What a relief from peeing on the floor to a nice present in the pot...yeah Amy!

Friend #1: That's great. . .we are excited for you!

Friend #2: nice one Amy! there is nothing worse than poop in underpants. maybe poop in underpants while out at the park 1/2 mile from the van!

Friend #3: WOW Amy!!! Way to go girl!

Overly Fertile Mom: tell me about it...the kids are scared to poo in the toilet...Taylor had trouble with peeing in the pot more-so than the poo...but Amy, I've been working with her for a while now and every time she needed to poo, she went and hid...behind the couch, under the table...augh, we are still in the let her run around half naked phase cause she only notices she's gotta go when she has nothing to catch it...

Friend #4: It's good to hear she is going where she is supposed to now!!!

Friend #5: YEAH AMY!!!! I am so excited for you!

Why do I lose touch with my friends once they have babies? Really? Do you need to ask that question? And I'm not knocking the potty training...it's important to know not to poop your pants. I'm a bit of a perfectionist about that actually. Also, I'm not knocking being excited about your children's accomplishments.But. Dear Overly Fertile Mom who used to be my friend in high school....you have just been hidden. Because...really?
I hereby solemnly swear that if the raisins make it, I will never post on Facebook about their poop or pee for all the world to read about, though I will quietly smile with pride when they float their first potty logs. I promise.

DeLaughters...

We have had so much going on I haven't had a chance to post about Kara, David, Wesley, Isaiah and Selah coming through town. We were so excited to see them all, especially Selah since we hadn't met her yet! Here are some pictures we got while they were here visiting!
Selah sleeping away on the couch:
Doug and I took the boys on a walk out into the woods, they had fun running and playing with the dogs and throwing things out of our path and into the water! I think here the boys are trying to balance on a log that goes out over the water:

When we got back the two little Indian boys were SO HOT in our steaming Northwest summer heat...so we pulled out the sprinkler and they froze in the freezing cold well water!
Uncle Doug and Selah...
Selah and Auntie Heidi...
We look forward to many more fun times while they are stateside! I do have a few more pictures to post but I am getting a little impatient with the computer, so enjoy these for now!!!

The final leg of our journey...

After visiting in Kentucky, we drove through Illinois and back into Missouri!
Boy was I pleased when it was my turn to drive and we headed straight into St. Louis...Doug did a good job taking pictures though:
That evening we got to Hannibal and got to visit with John, Sue and Joel...and see some of the town, it is fun and has cool old buildings. Here is a statue of Mark Twain and Huck Finn...not sure if those are spelled right!

We took some pictures in a pretty little garden in the middle of town, here we are with Joel...

And later that evening at the ball game...Joel really dressed out for the game!!! (j/k, that's not really him)
We had a really good time...
Doug and Uncle John...
After church, we went out to a yummy Mexican place and enjoyed time with family before we had to drive south again...
Doug enjoyed the hats...
Back at Doug's dad's house, he was able to finish up with one of the projects they had started...here they are building some stairs and trying to kill each other...
After it was done, it seems they made up... It was such a wonderful trip, we are looking forward to next year when we will have more time to visit with everyone!

piercings...

So...my sister got a nose ring...and I think that is really cool, I have always wanted one but never did. I have never been shy on getting piercings, had my ears pierced a number of times...like 9 times...two of those were re-dos...got my belly button pierced...a painful but satisfying time since they were SO not allowed at school but who was going to find out right! But the nose, always held back for some reason...not sure why I always waited on that. Now I am married and my husband doesn't think that they are all that cool...I think I missed out on my chance to get one. I'm jealous...have fun with your decorated nose Letha, my nose pails in comparison.

Vacation 2009...

For Doug's vacation week this year, we decided to go cross country to visit his dad and stepmom...because we were able to find tickets for cheaper than it would have been to drive, we got to do some traveling while we were in that part of the country! Enjoy some of our pictures!
Here we are at the Portland airport EARLY in the morning waiting for our flight! Doug and I were facinated with the legos in the airport...he entertained himself for a while building with them...
Taking pictures of our feet and our reflection in the windows kept us busy for a while...
Off we go...
Once we were there, we enjoyed a couple of days with his Dad and Jan, here is Doug and his Dad checking out all the plants and things in the yard...We enjoyed some beautiful Missouri sunsets... And a few card games...
Here we all are...
Doug and his Dad...
After a few days visiting, we began our road trip portion of our vacation and headed for Jackson, TN...(with one quick detour to Sikeston, MO)Doug in front of Lambert's, home of the throwed rolls...we couldn't pass this up!! Wow, that is a ton of food!
Doug and his pork chops...yummmy!I realize now that none of these pictures show the rolls...they were there I promise, we ate SO many of them!!!Full and happy, we headed off to Tennessee...

More pictures to come...I have to go sit by a fan, I can't believe that it is almost ten at night in Washinton state and I am sitting in 90 degrees in my house!

Fourth of July...

We had a fun filled fourth of July this year. Of course, because we celebrate everything, we were excited to celebrate a holiday for the second time together! We enjoyed our year of 'firsts' and are thrilled to begin celebrating a year of 'seconds'!
Although we didn't get pictures from the first part of our day, we enjoyed walking around the lake, meeting up with friends and eating yummy 'fair food'. In the afternoon, we walked over to our nephew's house for a bar-b-que with Doug's side of the family. Once we realized, after walking a few blocks past his house that we had gone to far, we were pretty tired! (The picture above was taken right about where we were supposed to turn...but I guess we were distracted) We were hot from all that walking, so we broke out the water guns...Our M.I.B. picture...And finally, the fireworks...
